Figura Arkitekter AB, founded in 1972 under the name Byggningen arkitekter AB, is a Swedish architectural firm with a particular focus on passenger vessel projects. In the project with vessels Spirit of Tasmania I & II, Lexidor was responsible for delivering the concept signage, which was developed and designed by Figura.

Stylish collaboration and innovative solutions

Richard Andrée Nilsson, senior architect, has extensive and solid experience working
with interiors for passenger ships. With over 40 years at Figura and nearly 30 years
as CEO and owner, he is now involved in several interior design projects
around the world.

During the construction of Spirit of Tasmania I & II, there was a need for concept
signage. To meet this requirement, Figura and Lexidor collaborated to develop
comprehensive signage solutions, with Lexidor manufacturing and installing signs
based on unique designs from Figura.

The project began with thorough construction work, which enabled the design and
resulted in signs that truly stand out – both aesthetically and functionally. It included,
among other things, illuminated stairwell numbers, foil decorations, 3D letters, copper signs, illuminated concept signs and a concept sign manual.

Exclusive design that elevates the onboard experience

The collaboration regarding the concept signage resulted in a series of exclusive
signs and décor, where both aesthetics and function play a central role. It was a
partnership marked by great commitment, high quality and innovative creativity.

A significant part of the project was also the creation of a concept sign manual. The
manual became an important tool to ensure that signs and décor follow the graphic
profile with guidelines for design, choice of materials and placement, which also
facilitates both future maintenance and new sign production.
