Quality Guide

The Photoluminescent Safety Products Association (PSPA) has established a quality classification standard that grades photoluminescent materials according to their brightness and the length of time they remain visible in darkness.

  • Class A: Cost-effective, standard performance.
  • Class B: Performs well in bright lighting conditions.
  • Class C: High performance in low lighting conditions.
  • Class D: Very high performance, maintaining effective luminance for up to 60 minutes. Suitable for environments with LED lighting.
  • Class E: The highest quality classification, demonstrating superior luminance and the longest persistence of glow, typically specified for demanding applications or longer evacuation times.

The Photoluminescent Safety Products Association (PSPA) recommends a minimum of Class C photoluminescent material for safety signage to ensure adequate visibility and performance in emergency situations.
